BARO AI to Build AI-Specialized Data Center in Jeju

On March 14, BARO AI signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province to establish an AI-specialized data center. The agreement aims to foster the AI industry, create jobs, and bridge the digital infrastructure gap across regions. To support the smooth operation of the data center, Jeju Province will offer administrative assistance and facilitate the use of remote workspaces (workation offices).

Starting next month, BARO AI plans to secure a facility in Jeju that can house over 300 server racks, with the goal of beginning operations in the second half of the year. The center will be equipped with cutting-edge GPUs (Graphics Processing Units), which are essential for AI training and inference tasks.

Oh Young-hun, Governor of Jeju, commented,
“BARO AI is a company whose technological expertise and growth potential have been recognized both domestically and globally. I hope the company will grow into a global AI leader based in Jeju, in line with the province’s digital transformation strategy.”

Lee Yong-deok, CEO of BARO AI, added,
“Our core mission in partnership with Jeju is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035 and build a global AI innovation cluster. We’re committed to making a strong start in Jeju and delivering meaningful outcomes together with the region.”
